Astan-e-Qods-e-Razavi, are of high significance from religious and architectural point of view. The shrine over which there is porticoes surround a magnificent golden dome. The sepulcher is enclosed by a golden transenna made by craftsmen from Isfahan. The superb Gowhar shad mosque with its impressive minarets represents a fine example of Islamic architecture. A pulpit with beautiful woodwork, belonging to 700 years ago is in the sanctuary. The complex of Astan-e-Qods owns a priceless library containing a great number of books, including manuscript belonging to different periods. The museum of this complex holds a great number of valuable articles, including the swords and shields of Nader shah and shah soleyman; the decrees of some ancient rulers and kings and many jewels.

 

Sight of Mashhad

The famous city of tus, located 24 kms west of Mashhad, was the home of Ferdowsi the great Persian poet who spent about 35 years writing his great aepic, shahnameh his mausoleum is in a vast verdant garden. The resting-place of Imam Mohammad Ghazali, Islamic Jurist theologian and philosopher, is near that of Ferdowsi. His mausoleum dates back to 700 years ago.

Mt.Binalud, the northern slope of which is suitable for sking and a lake called Cheshmeh Sabz are among tourist attractions these mountains area abounds with wild animals suitable for hunting.
